Offensive tackles are tasked with defending the opposing team’s most effective pass rushers. The left tack, or a right tackle protecting a left handed quarterback, is particularly valuable in regards to a quarterback’s success and health, as a right handed quarterback must face right to pass, turning his back to the left of the field. Tackles cannot simply rely on brute strength, however, as additional responsibilities involve communicating detailed pass rush information to the quarterback, which demands a high football IQ, and covering smaller, quicker defenders, which requires quick, agile feet.

Prior to beginning his career in the construction industry, Ryan Vucina attended Monterey Peninsula College, where he received a bachelor’s in business management. Ryan Vucina went on to become the chief operations manager of Vucina Construction in Pacific Grove, California.

The Monterey Peninsula College Business Department includes the Business Skills Center, which offers self-paced courses to help students improve business skills and learn to use various programs. The center includes courses in areas such as small business bookkeeping, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. Courses can be completed in as few as two weeks, depending on students’ individual pace and performance.

The Business Skills Center features a Business Technology Lab with the latest hardware and software to help keep students up to date. Courses are added to the skills center as new programs become common in office environments, including the latest versions of PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.

As the Chief Operations Manager of Vucina Construction, Inc., Ryan Vucina managed the construction of several properties with an cumulative construction cost of $21 million. To give back to the community, Ryan Vucina provides financial support to the Pacific Grove School District’s academic and athletic programs.

Pacific Grove High School welcomes private individuals to donate to the school through its PTA fundraising efforts. One of its programs is the eScrip Online Mall Fundraising. A percentage of every purchase made through the ecommerce site goes directly to beneficiary schools, such as Pacific Grove High School. Merchants such as Macy’s give back 4.8% of their profits to this program.

Pacific Grove High School also raises funds through the PTA Magazine Fundraiser. This online magazine drive is facilitated by American Publishers, and offers over 850 magazines and 100 digital subscriptions. Donors need only purchase or renew their subscription and input the school’s code, and 50 percent of the sales will be donated to the school. That money will then be used to fund student activities and athletics.

Judo training consists of three different types of practice. Finally, in a judo match, judo practitioners apply the skills learned during the other forms of practice.

Judo practitioners must practice against both stronger and weaker opponents to build a solid foundation before a match. Only a judo practitioner who is experienced with both throwing and being thrown will be able to maintain composure and move effectively in a proper match.

Pacific Grove High School has an active alumni association whose members plan social events, such as reunions, and support a variety of student activities at the school. Alumni donations help to offset the costs of a sober grad night and the senior trip to Disneyland. In the past, alumni monies have been used to support the mock trial team as well as to defray the costs of the student “Close Up” program that allows students to travel to Washington, D.C. and get a first-hand look at government.

Through the MPC Foundation more than 160 scholarships are granted annually to MPC students.
